Making Progress NAW 2020 – Elly Littler
After finishing at Darwen Vale High School, I started at Burnley College studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business with Marketing. This helped influence my decision in applying for an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing.
It was at a Themis Careers event that I met +24 Marketing who offered me a role as a Digital Marketing apprentice. After working with the company for a year and gaining invaluable experience, I progressed to a Level 4 Digital Marketing apprenticeship with Project Digital.
It was a great experience and reassuring to see some of the jobs I was already doing in my career were then part of my qualification. The course helped me learn and understand the theory behind the tasks I do, extend my knowledge further and develop brand new skills I can use in the workplace. It was also beneficial to be within a group of young professionals who are in the same situation as I am. We all supported each other through the course and got to learn about each others job roles and businesses.
I successfully passed Project Digital and have now moved onto a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship with UCLan. Upon successful completion of this degree, I will have Chartered Manager status, a qualification in Business Management and an overall grade for my apprenticeship. Having the opportunity to undertake a degree in Business Management alongside employment is going to provide lots of new and different experiences for me, as well as fantastic opportunities for career development.
